Filialkirche Jaunstein: Bauaufnahme und Bestandsanalyse

Abstract

Das Ziel dieser Diplomarbeit ist es, die Baugeschichte der Filialkirche Hl. Johannes des Täufers in Jaunstein zu erheben und darzustellen. Die Filialkirche ist eine für den Unterkärntner Raum typische kleine Saalkirche mit eingezogenem Chor im Fünfachtelschluss, angestellter Sakristei und Vorlaube sowie einem Dachreiter. Sie liegt auf einem kleinen Hügel am östlichen Ortsrand des Dorfes Jaunstein nahe Globasnitz im Kärntner Bezirk Völkermarkt. Am Anfang der Arbeit steht eine genaue Vermessung, bestehend aus Handaufmaß-Ergänzungen bereits vorliegender 3D- Laserscans. Die Auswertung der Messdaten, in Kombination mit Archivrecherche, dem Vergleich mit archäologischen Grabungsberichten sowie dendrochronologischer Beprobungen liefert die Grundlage für eine planliche Aufarbeitung des gesamten Gebäudes. Spezielles Augenmerk der Untersuchungen liegt auf dem Dachwerk als unverdeckt zugänglichem Gebäudeteil, an dem die meisten Spuren der erfolgten Zu- und Umbauten ablesbar geblieben sind. Die Ergebnisse werden schließlich mit Vergleichsbauten in Beziehung gesetzt, um Befunde abzugleichen und allgemeine Trends in Kärntner Kirchenumbauten im Laufe der Zeit ablesbar zu machen.

This diploma thesis aims at evaluating and recording the construction history of the subsidiary churchSt. John The Baptist in Jaunstein. The subsidiary church is a little singel naved church. This typology istypical for lower Carinthia, comprising of a main hall, a five-sided apsis as well as an added sacristy,entrance room and a ridge turret. The church is situated on a small hill on the eatern fringe ofJaunstein village, close to Globasnitz in the Carinthian district of Völkermarkt. The work started witha detailed building survey, comprising of hand measurements to compliment preexisting 3Dlaserscanneddocumentation. The evaluation of measurement data, combined with archivalresearch, comparisons with the archaological record and dendrochronologic sampling forms thebasis for detailed scale drawings of the whole building. The focus lies on the roof structure, being thepart of the building where most traces of additions and remodellings are both accessible and visible.Finds are put in context with comparable buildings to draw conclusions as to their implications bothfor the church of Jaunstein and regarding broader trends in construction and remodellings ofCarinthian churches through the ages.
