Augarten - ein vertikaler Park. : Umstrukturierung des Flakturms zum Aquaponik-System

Abstract

Einer der Wiener Flaktürme ragt mächtig über die Baumkronen des Augarten Parks hinauf. Seine Präsenz kann durch die Dominanz des Baukörpers und Brutalität des Betons nicht ignoriert werden. In meiner Arbeit stelle ich eine Assimilation mit der bestehenden Umgebung vor. Dieser Koexistenz von zwei kontrastierenden Entitäten — dem Wiener Augarten Park und dem Flakturm — schlage ich eine assimilierende Erweiterung vor. Der Augarten Park steht mit seinen Ressourcen und Potenzialen im ersten Plan meiner analytischen Betrachtung. Die Schotterwege, die Baumalleen, die riesigen Wiesen, die Fußgängerzone und sogar die große Betonfläche sehe ich in diesem Zusammenhang als eine Ressource. Wenn der Turm trotz allem stehen geblieben ist, dann muss der Park nach oben hinauf. Die rechteckigen Strecken, die Menschen und die Natur müssen um den Turm herum umgewickelt werden. Und diese neuentstandene Vertikalität muss zum Leben kommen und von Innen nach Aussen belebt werden. Mit einer Einheit des unendlichen Fußgängerwegs im Freien, der großen begrünten Fassadenfläche und des Aquaponik-Systems wird sowohl eine Kohärenz des ganzen Geländes erzielt als auch eine Umstrukturierung des Gebäudes zu einem aktiven und progressiven System.Das übergestellte Ziel meiner Arbeit, die große Betonfläche zu transformieren und den Park zu den Einwohnern zurückzugeben, habe ich versucht durch die Vereinigung der Fassadenbegrünung, des Aquaponik-Systems und einer durchgehenden Außenrampe zu erzielen.

One of Vienna‘s anti-aircraft towers rises up mightily above the treetops of Augarten park. Its presence cannot be ignored because of the dominant structure and the brutality of the concrete. In my work I present a harmonization with the existing environment. I propose an assimilating extension to the coexistence of two contrasting entities — the Vienna Augarten Park and the flak tower.The Augarten park, with its resources and potentials, is the foreground of my analytical observation. In this context, I identify the gravel paths, the tree-lined parkways, the huge meadows, pedestrian zone and even the large concrete surface as a resource for my work. If the tower has remained standing despite of all, then the park has to go upwards. The perpendicular routes, the people and the nature must be wrapped around the tower. And this newly created verticality needs to come to life and be brought to life from the inside out. With an synergic unity of these elements, the infinite pedestrian path in the open air, the large green facade and the aquaponic system that pulsates with life inside the anti-aircraft tower, both a coherence of the whole (as a park) and a restructuring of the individual (anti-aircraft tower) into an active and progressive system are achieved.The overarching goal that I tried to achieve by combining the vertical garden, the aquaponic system and a continuous open-air ramp, was to transform the large concrete structure and return the park to its town folks.
