Abstract: 
Land degradation by soil erosion is one of the critical environmental problems today. Soil erosion causes loss of fertile land, increases pollution and sedimentation in streams, or impacts the ecological stability of the ecosystems. Soil erosion is influenced by land use but also by the kinetic energy of rainfall and the size of the raindrops. Rainfall interception can thus have an important effect on the power of rainfall and associated erosion, but the impact of rainfall interception on erosion in different land cover settings still needs to be better understood.
