In general, the transition between liquid and vapor phase should play a fundamental role in the formation
and the dynamics of cavitation bubbles. Nevertheless, in many cases it seems sufficient to use quite simple
approximations to model phase transition and bubble behavior in an accurate way.
I will sketch a few situations with laser generated bubbles, where these simple models come to an end
and more sophisticated models are needed. I will give a brief overview on phase transition models
available for cavitation bubbles. The main objective of the talk is to stimulate discussion on this important
topic.
