The positive science’s approach to reckon with things builds models that need not so much represent as accommodate reality in its physis. With an eye to such "accommodation", this talk will consider the organisational structures of knowledge institutions (like faculty, discipline, department or organisation) in the diachronic light of what philosophy has perhaps not been very good at, namely reckoning explicitly with the auxiliary and the prosthetic. What does the "formality" of our modes of organizing knowledge formally tell us about a virtual world where "stasis" has always been subject to topological eversion and algebraic involution – rather than acting as a placeholder for absolute stillness or balance, (ontological) order or (epistemic) status?
