Didactic Approach Within the Academic Cooperation: The Urban Density Lab

Abstract

The so-called Urban Density Lab is a joint design studio in which students and teaching staff of both universities work together on specific design or planning tasks for Lviv. It is based on tools that are well known and frequently used in architectural education. However, their continuous, collaborative application by students and teachers at both architectural schools of the cooperation, and their thematic refinement has repeatedly led to innovative results and lively interaction with the current development debates in Lviv. This text describes the four essential methodological elements of the Urban Density Lab in their practical application.
