Messunsicherheitsberechnung in der Hochfrequenz- und EMV-Technik mittels Monte Carlo Methode

Abstract

Zweck dieser Dissertation ist es aufzuzeigen, mit welchen Problemen man in der Hochfrequenz und EMV-Technik rechnen muss, wenn man Betrachtungen zur Genauigkeit anstellen möchte. Dabei konnten zwei Problemkreise identifiziert werden: Die Definition der Messgröße und die Lösung der Messfunktion. Um in modernen Messprozessen die Messunsicherheit präzise berechnen zu können, ist ebenfalls eine präzise Modellbildung nötig. Diese stellt den Zusammenhang zwischen den Größen her, die an der Messung beteiligt sind. Gerade in der Hochfrequenz- und EMV-Technik ist ein exakter Ansatz nötig, um dies zu bewerkstelligen. Carbones Modell [23] für die Gestaltung von Messprozessen bringt sämtliche Problemkreise auf den Punkt und muss strikt umgesetzt werden. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit konnte anhand des Site VSWR Verfahrens gezeigt werden, dass es nicht möglich ist, die Messunsicherheit zu berechnen, falls keine Messgröße definiert wurde. Carbone spezifiziert neben der logischen Kette aus Messprinzip, Messmethode, Messprozedur auch den Messzweck, die Schnittstellen, die Messgröße und die Nebenbedingungen. Diese Definitionen sind elementar, denn dadurch wird bei der Modellbildung unterschieden, welche Effekte den Eigenschaften des Messobjekts zuzuordnen sind, und bei welchen es sich um systematische Abweichungen handelt. Sind diese Punkte abgehandelt, ist eine genaue Modellierung nicht schwierig. Mithilfe von Messungen, Simulationen und physikalischen Formeln lässt sich die sogenannte Messfunktion aufstellen, die den Zusammenhang zwischen der Messunsicherheit und sämtlichen Einflussfaktoren darstellt. Die Messunsicherheit ist eine statistische Größe und Stand der Technik für die Angabe der Genauigkeit. Wird eine möglichst präzise Modellierung vorgenommen, führt dies in der Hochfrequenzund EMV-Technik zu unübersichtlichen und komplexen Messfunktionen. Diese sind weder geschlossen noch analytisch darstellbar. Oft sind sie überhaupt nur numerisch zugänglich, denn sie beinhalten Messdaten, wie zum Beispiel Antennenrichtdiagramme. Auch hinsichtlich der Einflussfaktoren ist eine statistische Behandlung schwierig. Es treten korrelierte und dominierende Faktoren auf. Klassische Methoden zur Lösung der Messfunktion, wie zum Beispiel die Gauss'sche Fehlerfortpflanzung, versagen, denn es entsteht ein Fehler falls die Messfunktion nicht ein Polynom erster Ordnung ist. Weiters muss die Messfunktion ableitbar sein. Auch die Gültigkeit des zentralen Grenzwertsatzes wird vorausgesetzt, welche nicht immer gegeben ist. Eine weitere analytische Methode, die Unscented Transform Methode [61], ist eine Mischform zwischen Fehlerfortpflanzung und Monte Carlo Methode. Sie spielt nur eine Nebenrolle, denn deren Anwendung ist praxisfern. In dieser Dissertation konnte anhand von drei praktischen Beispielen gezeigt werden, dass die einzig praktikable Lösung die Anwendung der Monte Carlo Methode ist. Die Codierung der Probleme in MATLAB© ist einfach und die benötigte Rechenzeit auf einem durchschnittlichen PC überschaubar. Die Konvergenzgeschwindigkeit ist vom vorliegenden Problem abhängig, jedoch im Allgemeinen recht gut. Numerische Instabilitäten können ausgeschlossen werden.

The purpose of this PhD-thesis is to show the problems in RF and EMC engineering which will occur if accuracy is considered. Two issues can be identified: The definition of the measurand and the solution of the measurement function. To precisely calculate the measurement uncertainty in modern measurement processes precise modeling is required. Modeling tries to establish a mathematical relation between all quantities which are involved in a measurement. Especially in the area of RF and EMC engineering clear definitions are required to fulfill this task. The model of Carbone [23] for the design of measurement process must be followed strictly, because all eventual problems are discussed well. With the help of the Site VSWR method it was shown that it is impossible to calculate the measurement uncertainty without a clear definition of the measurand. Additionally to the logical sequence of measurement principle, measurement method, and measurement procedure Carbone defines the purpose of the measurement, the identification, the measurand and the context modeling. These definitions are important, because they are required to distinguish between properties of the measurement object and systematic errors during modeling. If these issues are discussed properly the precise modeling is not a difficult task. With the aid of measurements, computer simulation, and physical formulas the measurement function is defined. The measurement function describes the relation between the influence quantities and the measurement uncertainty. The measurement uncertainty is a statistical property and the state of the art quantity for precision. High end modeling in the area of RF and EMC engineering will lead to large and complex measurement functions. They neither can be written in closed form nor in an analytical form. Often they can by written only in a numerical form, since they contain measurement data, e.g. the pattern of an antenna. The statistical treatment is difficult due to the influence quantities, because correlated and dominant quantities can occur. Classical methods to solve the measurement function, e.g. the Gaussian propagation of errors, fail because an errors occurs if the measurement function is not a polynomial of first order. Additionally the measurement function must be derivable. Also the validity of the central limit theorem must be assumed, which is not a valid assumption at any time. The Unscented Transform Method [61] is a hybrid between Gaussian error propagation and the Monte Carlo method. For practitioners it is of minor relevance, since its application is laborious and difficult. In this PhD thesis it was shown by three typical examples that the Monte Carlo Method is the only applicable method. Writing simulation code in MATLAB© is simple and the execution time in reasonable. The order of convergence depends on the actual problem, but is reasonable in general. Numerical difficulties do not occur.
