Abstract:

The virtual reconstruction of the New Neological Synagogue in Lu¿enec (Slovakia) serves, among other things, the purpose of bringing the until 2016 neglected and dilapidated synagogue, virtually to its original glory and making it accessible to posterity as well as illustrative. The aim of the present work is to reconstruct the building in its original state as a synagogue, using the CAD program ArchiCAD, three-dimensionally with all his necessary details (bima, ark, columns, windows, doors, benches, roof truss, etc.), and on the other hand, to give certain information on the Jewish history of Slovakia or Lu¿enec and the synagogue from the first half of the 18th century. The building itself is one of a total of three synagogues built in Lu¿enec, and at the same time the only one that still preserved today. Built in 1925, it was used only for a few years for its original purpose and was not used for decades because of to the existing social policy conditions. Marked of the consequences of war, plundering and pollution, the use of a building seemed hopeless. However, this changed in 2016 when the former synagogue was transformed into a multicultural centre by funding from the European Regional Development Fund.
