Clujana - Revitalisierung der ehemaligen Schuhfabrik in Cluj-Napoca

Abstract

Als Folge der industriellen Restrukturierung der 1990er Jahre wurde die Aktivität vieler Großbetriebe eingestellt und die Anzahl der auf Handarbeit und/oder Hightech-Produktion basierenden kleinen und mittelständischen Unternehmen stieg an. So auch in Cluj-Napoca (Rumänien), wo die ehemaligen Industrieanlagen einen von Westen nach Osten verlaufenden Streifen bilden und das urbane Gewebe zweiteilen. Es ist naheliegend, dieses Areal wieder ins Stadtleben zu integrieren, da es relativ zentral liegt und 12 % des Baulandes der Stadt belegt. Die verlassene Industriezone sollte schrittweise in das Stadtgewebe integriert werden. Aufgrund der günstigen Gegebenheiten, wie dem guten Zustand der Bausubstanz, dem zentralen Standort, Grünraum, Sport- und Freizeitanlagen sowie der emotionalen Bindung der Stadtbewohner könnte der Revitalisationsprozess mit dem Areal der "Clujana" Schuhfabrik beginnen. Die Umwandlung von diesem zu einem Forschungs- und Innovationszentrum könnte nicht nur für das Fabrikgelände, sondern für die ganze Stadt und die Region vorteilhaft sein.

As a result of the industrial restructuring of the 1990s, many mass production factories were closed and small and medium sized companies appeared specializing in artisanal and/or high tech production. This is also the case with Cluj-Napoca (Romania), where the former factory sites form a strip from east to west and divide the urban tissue in two parts. The obvious course of action is to reintegrate these in the city landscape again, since the strip is relatively central and occupies 12% of the land use area. The brownfield area should be reurbanised step-by-step. The revitalisation could begin with the former -Clujana-factory site because of the many favorable conditions like the good quality of the foundations, central position of the site, green area, existence of sport- and leisure facilities as well the emotional attachment of the local residents. The transformation of this brownfield area into a research and innovation center could be beneficial not only for the immediate neighborhood, but also for the whole city and region.
