Korkmaz, W. (2015).

The purpose of this project is to design a bridge over the Danube river located in the 21st region of Vienna, Neue Donau. The project location is in the vicinity of U6 metro station and at the junction of the coastal roads. Although there are other bridges over the Danube River and there are actively used by people and public transportation vehicles at the moment; the access to these bridges is hard as there is elevation difference between the bridge and the coast. Bridges on the Danube river water is used by people and public transportation vehicles and elevation of the bridge is not easy to reach the beach access that is different on the bridge. This project aims to offer an alternative floating bridge with direct access to the coast. This bridge is designed to offer extra fuctionalities to people and enable them to spend their leisure time on the bridge, besides enabling transportation between two sides of the river. People swim and spend their leisure spend on coastal sides of the Danube River. However, it is extremely arduos to get into the river from the coast due to the rocks and stones. The planned bridge will provide people a direct access to the river. The planned bridge consists of three levels. Levels vary in fuctions as well as in materials. The first level is designed to offer fast cross over the river; whereas 2nd level is planned as a promenade and 3rd one for swimming and other recreational activities. Moreover, a new restaurant is thought on the Eastern coast in the project.
