In a selective process only the resistant strains survived and new ß-lactamase resistances were formed. Avibactam is the first non-ß-lactam ß-lactamase inhibitor which is used clinically since more than 20 years. Compared to its predecessors it has unique properties and a wider scope of activity against ß-lactamases. By developing a new synthetic route for avibactam, the originator process patent can be circumvented and it is possible to be the first generic company on the market. |
