Within the scope of my master thesis, I develop a recreational hotel for families with children in need of care. The location is aside from day to day life - placed in the heart of nature - at the Ilzschleife in Hals, a district from Passau. The work embraces the planning of a therapy center, as well as little hotel-satellites surrounding it. The project analyzes to what extend architecture can influence both, being a comfortable place, and rehabilitation for people with physical and mental disabilities. A complex spectrum, that is tailored to suit people with disabilities as well as healthy people; focused on the Childs therapy and recreation for their relatives, who often don`t find time for themselves. The goal is to analyze diverse types of disabilities, develop supporting forms of therapy and incorporate them into architecture. The architectural design interprets traditional constructions in a new way and sits self-reliant in the midst of nature. Besides the design itself, the focus lies on the interaction between nature and built space, as well as the psychological effect from architecture and materiality.
