Biegler, C. (2016).

Due to globalisation, increase of exporting-quotas, outsourcing and the reduction of the real net output ratio theres a recognisable shift of competitive relationships. In todays markets the competition is no longer among companies but among supply chains. The performance measurement of supply chains is a complex challenge. Reasons for this challenge are the heterogeneity of the participants with varying target systems and the resulting target conflicts. Compared to the internal performance measurement theres a lack of attention in the supply chain performance measurement. The aim of this thesis, which is written in the scope of the research project BeStNet , is the development of a supply chain performance measurement system (SCPMS). It provides an overview and an understanding of the strategic aspects and activities along the supply chain. Further it must enable a performance evaluation to support the selection of methods for controlling and improvement activities to generate potential of improvement. In this context the understanding of cause-effect relationships between the performance measures on the operating level and the performance measures of the developed SCPMS are essential. The analysis of the cause-effect relationships shall be shown on a reduction of setup-times for a make-to-stock-production. Therefore, a mathematical formulation for the configuration of the service level to solve the target conflict between inventory costs, setup costs and costs of lost sales is formulated. The cause-effect relationships of this setup-time reduction is shown at a use-case of the food industry. The results are verified by an agent-based simulation model.
