Gorsche, C. (2015). Synthesis and characterization of monomers and additives for photopolymer-based dental restoratives [Dissertation, Technische Universität Wien]. reposiTUm. http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12708/78360

State of the art photopolymer-based dental replacements are good alternatives to amalgam-based dental materials due to their very short curing time and their suitability towards mechanical and esthetic requirements. The most important problems that are associated with these types of materials are the induced shrinkage stresses during polymerization and the limited penetration depth of light which causes problems when thicker layers need to be cured. The target of this work is to synthesize monomers and additives that reduce polymerization shrinkage and also improve the mechanical properties of dental restoratives.
