The following thesis investigates steam generation for the reforming of natural gas, whilst avoiding carbon deposition, in an SOFC-unit. The primary focus is the integration of the evaporation process into a prototype system. Two different concepts are considered: 1. Evaporation in a heat exchanger by using the heat of the exhaust gas: The system and its operational behavior are analysed, in order to estimate the sources and demand of thermal energy. The geometry of a double-pipe of the required dimensions was determined and a heat exchanger with a micro channel structure was also installed and tested. 2. Injection of water through a nozzle, directly into the fuel gas: A simulation of the anode gas recirculation allowed appropriate operating points to be identified. Using the theory of single droplet evaporation led to an approximation for the required distance of the pipe line; a nozzle type was subsequently selected and the experimental setup for measurement of spray evaporation planned.
