How should we manage our architectural heritage? Demolition or changing? An ecological essential. For over 20 years nobody is using the Hubertusbad in Berlin-Lichtenberg. Originally built as sanitation facility the Hubertusbad isn't really up-to-date any more. So there is a lack of future-oriented concepts of use to allow a reactivation of the bath. The potencial of the Hubertusbad is its direct nearness of the Sana-Klinikum. It's already planned in 1900 as one ensemble, so maybe it could be integrated again and complete the Sana-Klinikum with new accents. So the intention is to revitalize the Hubertusbad to offer the therapeutic use of water. The classic hydrotherapy (based on the Kneipp therapy) is connected with the functions of a monastery. In addition, a longer stay can be offered to make the therapeutic care more intentsiv. The religiosity will be not use for faith primarily, it's used for the combination of therapy and bath. So the structure of a classical monastery supports the three-dimensional linkage and the organistation. So there is an offer of non-church religiosity, which expands the therapeutic range. So, it's not just about the pure preservation of the Hubertusbad as a memorial. It's about economic and ecological necessity. The intention of the diploma is a ressource-conserving handling with the Hubertusbad to give it another life cycle.
