Abstract:
This diploma thesis deals with the modelling, identification, and control of the laboratory experiment "Three Tanks System" by amira. The system can be operated in different configurations. In this work, however just two configurations are taken into account:
A configuration with two tanks, which is a system with single input and single output (SISO), and a configuration with three tanks, which is a system with multiple inputs and multiple outputs (MIMO).
At the beginning of the work, the non-linear mathematical model of the two tank system and of the three tank system are presented based on physical considerations. Then the sensors, the actuators and the parameters of the flow characteristics of the valves are identified and the model is verified using these measurements.
Finally a tracking controller based on exact linearization is designed for both configurations.
The effect of the controller is demonstrated and evaluated by means of simulation and measurement results. Furthermore, the possibility of the noise reduction by using an Extended Kalman Filter is investigated and discussed.
