Kadiköy District serves as a bridge between European and Asian Side of Istanbul, standing as the main hub and most frequented transit station of the public transportation vehicles. This crucial position brings along a number of disadvantages as well as advantages. Rihtim Avenue and Kadiköy Square, that were planned way back forty years ago, cannot meet the present-day needs. The uppermost handicap of Kadiköy being a transportation hub is that it interferes with the unity of the sea and the land. In this project, populous traffic along the Kadiköy shore is moved underground and the shore is wholly and uninterruptedly pedestrianized. Existing coast buildings and urban attractions were replanned. Facilitating smooth extension of the primary and secondary roads to the seaside, a relationship between people and coastal sea is established. Areas located along the link roads are utilized as greenfield sites and recreational areas.
