Unger, C. (2020).

Operation of large-scale manipulators within restricted spaces is a difficult task. This work proposes the design of a moving horizon trajectory planning for a large-scale manipulator, which will be able to perform automated tasks. The optimal trajectory planning is based on a physical model of the flexible manipulator. Mainly the purpose of this algorithm is to suppress the mechanical oscillations of the structure during a point to point motion of the end effectors. Hence the model considers torsion along the longitudinal axis as well as the bending in two directions of the elastic manipulator beams. The system of partial deferential equations (PDE) is derived by the Hamilton Principle based on the energies of the physical system. A description of the manipulators elastic kinematic is given to derive the kinetic, potential and external energys. By using the Ritz-Method, the PDE-System of a two-armed manipulator is approximated by local approach functions. To do so, the static solution of the Saint-Venant torsion and the Euler-Bernoulli bending of a beam are investigated within this work. Two different approximation approaches of the distributed parametric model are compared to each other in terms of their dynamical behaviour and the computational complexity. Depending on this research a reduced approximated model is proposed. In addition, this model describes the physical behavior of the system. This mathematical description is used to perform the optimal trajectory planning over a moving horizon. To suppress the parameter variations within the model as well as modelling errors, a concept with two degrees of freedom control is used. The proposed control concept leads to a suppression of the excited mechanical vibrations of the structure. With the suggested control system, a smooth point to point motion and the planning of automated tasks for the manipulator can be achieved.
