Interpolation von Offline-Simulationsdaten für die Echtzeit-Prozesssteuerung von Filmtrocknern

Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with the drying behaviour of polymer films cast onto steel belts. Established theoretical models exist to describe the drying process. The exact determination of the material data is a prerequisite for an exact description of the drying behaviour. The Institute of Thermal Process Engineering at the KIT in Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) has developed measuring equipment and simulation models with which the drying process can be accurately reproduced. The calculation is complex and therefore unsuitable for real-time simulations. In the context of this work an algorithm is to be developed, which makes it possible to determine the current plant condition from a group of off-line simulation computations. In addition to determining suitable interpolation functions, it is necessary to make a suitable selection of the simulations to be calculated offline (parameter matrix) in order to ensure that all real parameter combinations are covered. The total number of simulation calculations must remain manageable in order to enable real-time control with this model. The content of this diploma thesis is on the one hand the mathematical interpolation between the already existing offline calculated simulation data. On the other hand, the theoretically determined algorithm is to be validated experimentally with the help of the in-house pilot plant (LabCaster). The aim is to find a suitable interpolation algorithm that allows the current drying behaviour to be determined from a host of offline simulations. In the first part, the developed interpolation tool uses well-founded mathematical formulas from the literature and achieves good results in comparison with the simulation. The second part is realized by a linear interpolation of the parameter matrix. Considering that real experiments show a deviation from the ideal simulation, the interpolation could be checked and validated with the help of the experiments. The Matlab script developed in the context of this work can predict the real behavior of the film in good approximation. The next step will be to enter the existing Matlab script into the VirtualCaster and thereby enable real-time process control.

Diese Diplomarbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Trocknungsverhalten von Polymerfilmen, die auf Stahlbänder aufgegossen werden. Um die Trocknung zu beschreiben, existieren etablierte theoretische Modelle. Die exakte Bestimmung der Stoffdaten ist eine Voraussetzung für eine genaue Beschreibung des Trocknungsverhaltens. Das Institut für thermische Verfahrenstechnik am KIT in Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe Institut für Technologie) hat Messapparaturen und Simulationsmodelle entwickelt, mit denen man den Trocknungsprozess exakt wiedergeben kann. Die Berechnung ist aufwendig und daher ungeeignet für Echtzeit-Simulationen. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit soll ein Algorithmus entwickelt werden, der es ermöglicht, aus einer Schar von Offline-Simulationsrechnungen den aktuellen Anlagenzustand zu bestimmen. Neben der Ermittlung von passenden Interpolationsfunktionen ist es notwendig, eine geeignete Wahl der offline zu berechnenden Simulationen (Parameter-Matrix) zu treffen, um sicherzustellen, dass alle real auftretenden Parameterkombinationen abgedeckt sind. Die Gesamtzahl der Simulationsrechnung muss überschaubar bleiben, um in weiterer Folge eine Echtzeit-Regelung mit diesem Modell zu ermöglichen. Inhalt dieser Diplomarbeit ist einerseits die mathematische Interpolation zwischen den bereits existierenden offline gerechneten Simulationsdaten. Andererseits soll der theoretisch ermittelte Algorithmus, mit Hilfe der sich im Haus befindlichen Pilotanlage (LabCaster) experimentell validiert werden. Ziel ist es, einen geeigneten Interpolationsalgorithmus zu finden, der es erlaubt, aus einer Schar offline gerechneter Simulationen, das aktuelle Trocknungsverhalten zu ermitteln. Das entwickelte Interpolationstool bedient sich im ersten Teil fundierter mathematischer Formeln aus der Literatur und erzielt beim Vergleich mit der Simulation gute Ergebnisse. Der zweite Teil wird durch eine lineare Interpolation der Parametermatrix realisiert. Unter Berücksichtung, dass reale Experimente eine Abweichung von der idealen Simulation aufweisen, konnte mit Hilfe der Versuche die Interpolation überprüft und validiert werden. Das im Rahmen dieser Arbeit entstandene Matlab-Skript kann das reale Verhalten des Films in guter Näherung voraussagen. Der nächste Schritt wird sein, das bestehende Matlab-Skript in den VirtualCaster einzupflegen und dadurch eine Echtzeit-Prozesssteuerung zu ermöglichen.
